Neeru Mittal

You’ have gotta believe in miracles, just like that little muffin did and turned to a scrumptious cupcake. Life is just cake that need to be crumb coated with love and topped with passions sprinkles. Doing it the right way, Neeru Mittal is a woman of substance. A wife, a mother, a grandmother and now a baker is truly a woman we would all want to learn from.

Who is Neeru Mittal, other than being a baker?

I’m a mother, wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, but most importantly I’m a woman who is living her life to the fullest and trying in my own small way to make a difference in all that I do.

How old were you when you baked your first cake?

As a child, I was always fascinated to watch my mother cooking up the most delicious things. It’s her love for food that imbibed this passion for baking in me. For as long as I can remember, I have tried to watch and learn from her. My journey with baking started in my mother’s Kitchen in Barnala and that love has continued till date. This is something that I grew up with.

What is a perfect evening for you?

A perfect evening is spending time with my family, surrounded by all my children and grandchildren. It’s a time of lots of chitter-chatter and laughter. Those are the moments that create memories and the heart cherishes them forever.

Please tell us a little about your journey?

Cooking and baking has always been my passion. It’s a part of me that has given my life a varied dimension I would say. My friends and family have always appreciated my culinary skills. Over time, with a lot of push & encouragement from my husband and children, I decided to venture out in this field- Simply for the love of BAKING.

When did you realise baking was your true passion?

They say it’s never too late to start. It was after I had my grandchildren when I realised baking was my true passion. I still remember the happiness, that gleam in their eyes when they used to cut their customised Birthday Cake, cupcakes or chocolate croissants & cookies. The joy and Satisfaction I used to get is what made this hobby into a true passion.

What is your most treasured possession.

The love and respect of my family is what I treasure the most.

What all hurdles came your way and what was the detrimental factor that kept you going?

Setting up any business, requires certain challenges especially when you start something now. Personally, I took every challenge as a baby step and learnt a lot along the way. My Dedication, commitment and love for what I do, kept me going.

What would you consider to be your greatest achievement?

Today, we are all going through a pandemic where we are isolated in our homes and not able to go out to enjoy some of our favourite dishes. During this time, we at “Neeru Mittal’s Patisserie” have been baking with great fervour to provide delectable baked goods in the most safe and hygienic manner. The faith, the trust that my customers have shown in me and my bakery during these unprecedented times is what I consider to be one of my great Achievements.

What was your driving force once you had a decision to start your own patisserie?

I have always aspired to be the best version of me be it as a wife, mother or daughter. Being a baker is an extension of who I am as a person. Building an identity for myself and setting an example for my daughter, daughter in laws and other women to work towards something you love is what keeps me driven towards it.

What is your idea of happiness?

Happiness when shared multiplies. Truly, I feel so much joy and contentment when I get an opportunity to share my baked delights with people from all walks of life, be it children in the orphanages, in the slum areas and Bharat ke veer, Indian Army Jawans.

What is the inspiration behind your work?

The joy and love I receive from everyone who tastes my stuff inspires me to keep giving my best.
