Did Any One Of Them Deserve It?

A nation of 1.3 Billion people and we haven’t yet learnt to respect the sex that  brought us to life . A report by times of India clearly states that in the year 2016 alone 3.38 lakh crime against women cases have been registered and 11.5 percent of those are rape cases. Of all those who have gone through it, Did Any One Of Them Deserve It? Rape is the fourth most common crime committed against women in India.

India has been ranked first in the world’s list of most dangerous countries for women. Mean while what have or governments been doing. The investigations done after the rape cases do they even matter? My question is how did those goons manage to have the audacity to commit such a crime. As per NCRB data, 38,947 cases of rape have been registered in the year 2016. In the year 2014 and 2015, 36,735 and 34,651 cases were reported. It was Nirbhaya then   Priyanka Reddy yesterday and god knows who today.

Let’s talk a bit rationally here the way people explain rape in our country is , man she was asking for it, she must be a slut, chote kapde pehnungi to aisa hi hoga na, ladkon se dosti or kis liye ki thi, husband hai tumhara, beta uncle the koi baat nhi baat bahar ayegi to badnami hogi. The country that does not understand the word consent how could we even imagine it to understand marital rape.

The section 375 of Indian penal code defines rape as

Rape. A man is said to commit “rape” who, except case hereinafter excepted, has sexual intercourse with a woman in circumstances falling under any of the six following descriptions:-

Firstly. –– Against her will.

Secondly. –– Without her consent.

Thirdly. –– With her consent, when her consent has been obtained by putting her or any person in whom she is interested, in fear of death or of hurt.

Fourthly. –– With her consent, when the man knows that he is not her husband, and that her consent is given because she believes that he is another man to whom she is or believes herself to be lawfully married.

Fifthly. –– With her consent, when, at the time of giving such consent, by reason of unsoundness of mind or intoxication or the administration by him personally or through another of any stupefying or unwholesome substance, she is unable to understand the nature and consequences of that to which she gives consent.

Sixthly. –– With or without her consent, when she is under sixteen years of age.

Exception. –– Sexual intercourse by a man with his own wife, the wife not being under fifteen years of age, is not rape.

In a country like ours, how can you expect  a girl to feel safe, such inhuman criminals deserve inhuman punishments but our law enactment system is way too slow for that and even if the criminals are caught they are not punished the way they deserve.

Being sexually violated is emotionally traumatizing and the victim of such an act cruelty can not really recover from such a thing. A lifelong fear of such things happening persists. There should be no excuse for such people. The court of law needs to act fast its high time we all stand up for this. Or else such heinous crimes will continue to haunt each and everyone.

Did any one of them deserve it? Did any one of those women deserve such brutality? What wrong had they done to be projected to such violence? Have they been served justice?  Or has the government just fooled us around!!
